Tim,

I have mentioned problems with the joining of splines. Here is an example.

I have 4 3d splines, pic01, I then join them (in any order), the result is pic02

File attached.

The next one be 8 3d cp splines, let me see you get the combination right on that one :D

And I thought VC was a CAD system, not a puzzle ball

I am still putting this forward as a bug, because this as happened before, but the curve as move only very slightly, but enough to cause errors later in construction and caused loss of hours of work.
I do not see why after joining curves there should be a need to go back and start checking to see if the curve as moved or not.

Sorry I dont follow. Are you saying that curves and being moved as a result of an unsatisfactory join like in your example ?

Yep nothing worse than to find out the software has shafted you and its a from scratcher....:D

They appear to be yes, as when the curves are being used as guides they are ignored after joining, so there must be some movement to take them off tolerance for the guide.

A question, (well 2)

would you expect to have to select a specific join order in Rhino to stop such a movement of spline? If such was needed, would you find it acceptable?

Hi Steve,

I think you know my answer to that.....No I would not expect to pick the order of a group of curves to be joined in Rhino. A curve should never move when being asked to join to another, that said there are instances when the structure of a curve may change as a result of a join BUT this should always be within tolerance (IN Rhino that is).

In your example a window select should be possible......thats what we would do in Rhino right?;)

I hope Tim gets on top of this problem fairly quick:(

Well he did ask for an example (as he said he has not seen a problem with join), so now he has one :). But will he reply/fix?
