Hi,

I mentioned on another thread that I build some models for friends. The models can be virtually anything. I do make some renders of them to check any mapping, and check for possible problems in the mesh.

I dont sell the models, they are just a bit of fun for me.(I never know what is next :))

As I am now building the models in VC I will post some of the test renders to this thread.

First one is just a model of a toy spaceship.

(The textures are just added for test, as she will add her own textures). Rendered in Carrara.

Sorry for the OT Steve, but I took the kids to see the film, "Coraline" yesterday- which was brilliant, especially the 3D, with the animation.

This film comes with a ttrw recommendation! :cool:

Is it CG or stop motion with puppets (or a mixture?) I do like the styles and work put into these types of movies. I am still a great fan of movies such as "Final fantasy".

The characters in that film are something to be attempted to build. Now I wonder if they could be done in VC :)

The film is by Henry Selick, who tends to make stop motion rather than CG. (Selick also made "The Nightmare before Chrismas"- which was co-produced by Tim Burton)

I recommend the Cinema (Theater)- I don't think the technology is quite there yet for 3D at home? Too expensive. I really recommend this film in 3D!!

I'm a big fan of Jan Svankmajer too :cool:

Perverse, being that I use CAD, but I tend to be more of a fan of stop motion rather than CG! :eek:

BTW, I'm a big Nick Park fan too!

Hi Tom,

No, just a few needed with a good texture, its what I used to have to do before volumetric materials/clouds.

I have just seen coraline, nice animation and quite a good film. maybe a model of the house on the way. :D

More in line "as expected" from CAD :D, the first part of the tank I have started to build, the track drive wheel.

I found time to make one of the track "links" for the tank. I have not added to much detail as I dont want to have too high of a poly count later.
