Small problem?

Pic pd01 shows a simple shape being path duplicate on a circle, there is a second copy at the origin of the circle.

Pic pd02 also shows the second copy, but please note the orientation of the copies,.. this appears to be Dependant on the direction of the alignment, and the problem is only when taking alignment on the y axis (in this example)

A circle has a start point and and end point, They just happen to be the same point. When using path duplicate the software puts an incident of the object on the start point and the end point. This is why you are getting two incidents at the same point.

The copies moving to the inside of the circle are related to the order in which you picked the two points for the alignment. Change the order of the points selecting the bottom point of the polygon first then the top and the incidents will be on the outside of the circle.

I know what it is doing, but why,.. it is the first cad system I have used with this problem. Quite a lot of paths are closed for Path duplicate(array along curve) should there not be some check by the program for this?.

As it only happens (in this example) with alignment direction selection on the Y and not the X, I question your logic.
I would expect the alignment direction to either:-

The alignment direction to show the actual direction of the object as following the path
Or,
For the alignment direction to specify the side of the path the object is to be placed

The 790 build is still the most current for ViaCAD 2D/3D V6. Will have another patch next week.

Tim,

I can't remember there being a preview facility in the array tools (so for eg one can get an idea of where repetitions may fall, as I increase or decrease their amount or size). Can a possibility of adding this feature also be addressed sometime? (It would be also nice a have this feature with fillets and chamfers also :) )
