Anyone have a solution for Skin Surface (SS) over a large number of curves originally created sequentially (and SS worked fine), later a curve in the middle of them is modified. SS likes to surface the initial group and then swing back and pick up the last one in the middle since it was most recently modified.

Is there a way (I've tried redefining the attribute number, no help) to modify a curve (or group of curves) inside a series of curves and get it back into the proper sequence between two neighboring curves (or groups) so we can create a continuous surface?

Does this make no sense? I can expand...

Hi PRP

Try this
1 draw new curve
2 select surface
3 goto concept explorer features tab
4 right click on the line you want to replace
5. select replace curve and pick the new curve

Thanks Jason;

I'm using Shark LT v8 build 1003, and when I select solids they show up in Concept Explorer/Features, but Skin Surface objects don't show up there. They do show in Inspector/Object, as (eg) "Skin Surface_18973383".

Do you know if there is a trick to get skin surfaces to appear in Features?

Despite not being able to 'replace curve' in Concepts Explorer, there's a relatively simple solution. The jpgs attached show:
1 a series of groups of curves to create a surface using Skin Surface tool.
2. resulting "Skin Surface"
3. 4th group modified, ungrouped, reduced amplitudes, grouped (or other modifications)...
4. The resulting improper surface in that the latest curve (group) in the series is the modified one (latest in creation/modiication), 4th in position from left.
Solution:
DO THIS: starting with the curve modified, copy it and toss the original, paste the copy. Do that for each group toward the right (only one here in this example, but my application has 21 more groups, thus a serious need for a fix). Keep copy/toss/paste going from left to right.
5. Proper surface created with Skin Surface.

I just checked Shark LT, it has the Replace Curve in Concepts Explorer for Skin Surfaces. However, my guess is that since your skin is using Groups, it's not showing in the popup menu. I will need to look into...

>>3. 4th group modified, ungrouped, reduced amplitudes, grouped (or other modifications)...

Once you ungroup, (deletes the group entity which is linked to the skin surface), you lose the associative link to that group. Can you do your modifications without ungrouping? For example can you use the Select Deep to do your modifications.

Hi Tim,
See attached 1.jpg. This is a Skin Surface of 2 complex curves that are (like your example) interpolate splines, no groups, but they don't show up in Concept Explorer/Features. Was your example Shark LT8 1003? I may need to reinstall.

Re: deep select, etc. Yes. that works, and Gripper non-uniform scaling works good; and for readers of this, it helps alot to convert curves to interpolate splines for doing Skin Surfaces. And with repetitive patterns in the curves like my example, grouping is problematic; "Join Curve" works great.

Can you post the skin surface as a Shark file?

Here you go. This is a series of 7 joined small curves, some non-uniformly gripper height adjustmented, some separately adjusted.
