I was aware of remove links. It's almost habit now to remove links before any boolean operation. It seems very easy to get into trouble if they aren't almost immediately removed. Links are a trick of the devil.

It looks like your Shark is going a correct result. My ViaCAD is built 777. I noticed that when flattening, there are control points where the transition occurs between visible and hidden, but the hidden part isn't a separate line and hidden.

The green line on top of a visible line is another issue altogether, and mentioned in my previous post. Any hidden line eclipsed by a visible line should be trimmed or purged from the generated list. Also, any hidden line eclipsed by another closer hidden line should be trimmed or not generated as needed.

By the way, my name is Robert, but a surprising number of people who I tell my name to immediately think "Richard"; I think the "Richter" confuses them.

I agree with all suggestions above.

The most urgents points for me are :
-1 to solve the ghost elements and links that are spoiling part of my pleasure.
-2 To improve the splines quality.

Plus I'd like to add my marathonian complaint for better interface :
- A real dimension palette with all parameters included.
- A real text palette too.
- And an improved rendering, with a usable advanced interface.

Bugger, sorry Robert !

I'm on build 820 - and I think Tim's been working hard on this stuff !

I agree with JL's comments too - he's always right !

JL,
How long have you and others been asking for a unified dimensions palette ? Since V1 ?

Why do these basic things get overlooked year after year after year. Does anybody on the development team care about usability ?

Hello Tim,

As I often do aerodynamic stuff ever more often I have to prepare setups for CFD calculations. The most boring part is that if an error occurs with meshing one has to go back into shark, rebuild/repair/change the model, reimport mesh again....go back to start.... :-(
As Acis supports 3D Mesh generation with the actual R19 release. Is it possible to integrate this feature in shark?!! I dont know how complex this is, but as numerical simulation is getting more and more attention in product development (and gets more and more affordable eg. openFOAM).....

happy new year

Please resolve the buggy variable radius feature especially on closed loop edges.
It is driving me nuts I posted requests on this for ages, but actually it used to work better on OLDER versions of Shark/Concepts/*cough*balt.

Ciao, Norbert

Norbert - did you post examples of this - I thought I saw some but I can't find now

If we can really spell it out - I'm sure Tim and the guys can find a way forward

My original thread goes way back to the old forum (is this accessible somewhere?) – after that, I reposted this bug several times responding to other threads, but I can't find these posts now.
So I recreated an example (see attached jpeg file) for the variable radius behavior on “closed loop“ edges.
This example is just the simplist type of error You‘ll get.
Sometimes rounding won't work at all while cutting the piece and then rounding the seperate parts works just fine.
As I said there are all types of different behavior in these cases that have one thing in common: it doesn‘t work as it should.

(if anyone is interested I can provide the Shark file)

Great - maybe we can all take a fresh look at this after MacWorld !

I have just been wrestling with perspective again .. each time I do, I pray to the God of software developers that Tim will one day see this ancient and much hated big as a priority

What annoys me intensely is showing somebody a model when perspective has a nasty turn .. I usually grimace and say -

"oh, I'm running a beta version .. must report that !"
