This should be the easiest thing to do in CAD

Computers are perfect for taking inputs and negating numbers

However, as ever .. what you think should be a cynch .. is not !

I'd be willing to wager that the vast proportion of products, vehicles and widgets have strong elements symmetry .. if not being entirely symmetrical !

We've discussed how mirror planes could be set to automatically mirror the assets of particular groups - ala Alias Studiotools. This is not rocket science and would make the lives of users so much easier ! Can't we get prioritise this. I feel like I'm going to be old and arthritic before I get to use such tools.

What really drives me nuts though is making splines symmetical:
It's just not that easy !

Take a simple 3 point spline. Nudge one tangent tail up by perhaps 10mm .. and the other tangent tail down by 10. You'd think that would be a symmetrical spline .. but it ain't !

We desperately need to be able to click and "make symmetrical, enter point of symmetry .. "

The workarounds otherwise for setting up a symmetrical surface network curves are just tedious !

I'd like to see more provisions throughout the toolkit for dealing with symmetrical objects .. which presently is a pain in the butt !

1. making splines symmetrical .. simply as ass right now !
2. mirroring given objects by group (given axis)
3. within the 'match surface' tool, an option to "make centreline tangent" (by axis)
4. better support for instances (lines, splines, surfaces etc !!)
.. and so on

Yes, I agree strongly with Jol, automatic symmerty would be a great improvement.
I'd like to see symmetry before icy cimetery.:o

Yes!
I second that!
I design aircraft and there is no greater pain as to have the entire model ready and than hear from the milling guys: "Hey you have like 3 places where your wings are not like the other side!! Is this intentional?"
Just because i "forgot" to apply the same changes on both sides.
