Using Shark 5.5 latest build on OSX 10.6.4

Recently it is making me Register almost every time I launch Shark. Of course now it says "Registration Error
You have reached the limit of authorizations available for this serial number."

What is going on?

Sorry to post here, but Tim, I have emailed you several times regarding this problem and no response. Now the issue is a BIG problem as I can no longer launch the software that I paid for.

I have Shark installed on my desktop, and a laptop which I use on the road. I never use them at the same time. Both are having the Activation timing out issue....

Thanks,

Norbert

typically a problem w/ the rights of the user saving the credentials to the OS, try if launching once w/ elevated rights and registering then resolves this issue.

I am already logged in as Admin ( I always log-in as Admin). On OSX that is as "elevated" rights as I can be (unless there is a terminal command). But either way, I cannot register at all, because it says once I fill everything out, that I have reached the limit of authorizations available. Something has to be reset on the Punch server authorization side....

of course, but has nothing to do w/ your "Recently it is making me Register almost every time I launch...", at least until your hit the max. counter.

Ok, so what exactly do I need to check/reset/change on my system (OS X 10.6.4) to prevent this from happening? What is odd is it never happened before on either computer....

Thanks in advance,
Norbert

seems like the node id of the system has repeatedly been changed by changes of the hardware (e.g. network adapters) and/or operating system?

just guessing, can be resolved by Punch! only.

Norbert,
I hope you have better luck than me, but a while back I had problems authorizing Shark. I spent time on the phone with support, they sent me several new numbers to try and nothing would stick. In the end I just gave up and continued to use Shark 4. The only fix for me was to wipe my drive clean and do a completely fresh install of OS X.

Support (1-800-856-9601) asked me to delete the SFXRegInfo.ini file in Users / Shared / Punch! / Shark FX but that did not work for me, but may work for you. My guess is there must be some hidden file someplace, but obviously nobody wants to say what or where which is why only a clean install of the OS on a clean drive would fix the issue for me.

I will try the new numbers. If it keeps happening and a new clean reinstall.....oh I do not want to go there...Could Apples system software updates cause this?

I was told that it is because MacPros have 2 ethernet cards & the Shark FX authorization system gets confused. I have put up with this issue for what seems like forever, well not so much now as I lost the client that I needed this software for, precisely over this issue. Basically it took too long to get a response & new authorization codes & I blew a really big deadline. Anyway it is a known and long standing issue. Unless Shark FX goes back to being tied to a dongle (Concepts Unlimited version 1) I cannot trust this software for anything other than the odd file conversion & occasional bit of rounding if I can't do it in FormZ.

Well, but why would this be happening on a laptop? (only one ethernet interface there)

This is absolutely ridicules, I have had many authorization problems in the past but luckily they have been sorted out for now.
Not being able to use the software you have paid for is criminal, I also lost a client because of this some time ago, tech support were blaming my OS but the issues were all on their side.
Sorry I can't help and hope you get it resolved soon.

It had nothing to do with my set up, the first set of disasters revolved around that registration page that you have to fill in.
I kept on getting told it was because of the way Windows handles permissions but in the end it turned out to be something to do with the registration form (node issue or something).
That was just a pain but the real run around came when I was sent a link for the latest build of Shark V5 about six months ago.
I was told that I was doing something wrong but in fact the link I was being sent was for Shark, this took a whole week to resolve and a couple of clients got really angry and that was that.

I am running Shark on two machines, one with Windows 7 and one with Vista, both machines have Intel Core 2 Duo cpu-T7500 2.20 GHz with NVIDIA 512 mb graphics cards, 3gb ram and both are 32 bit systems.
