Tim and folks,

ViaCAD Pro v8 is not finding the new build of 1017 to update the program. Is there a fix for that coming? Also what is the best option for getting the newest update?

Thanks for what answers you can give.

Yes! I would also like to know?
And how is it that some people get the updates and some don't?
It would be nice if there was aleast an update notice here on the forums since the
update function in the software doesn't work. :)

Hello Folks.

I think there is a big misunderstanding.

First:
I am NOT employed/related to Punch/Encore or whomever.
I am a normal user of ViaCAD Pro (in my spare time for my private
pleasure).

Second:
This is (to my best knowledge and guessing) what happened.

Company Avanquest took the actual builds 1016 of ViaCAD and
ViaCAD Pro and
> removed the Serial Number and activation procedure
> translated all Menus and commands into german
> "named" this version "Build 1017" (that's what the splash screen says)

They are selling these versions on their own homepage and via german
AMAZON (that's where i bought mine from) - there it was cheaper.

So the 1017 builds are localized german versions.
No update, no new builds, sorry guys ...

BTW: When i click on Hilfe > aktuelle Programmversion (in an english version
this would be similar to Help > check for updates) i get an error message
in my web browser :( .

I am hoping that Tim and the Team will provide an update / Service Pack
for V8 and i am hoping that it will install/fix the german builds too.

Roland (hopefully my english is good and understandable)

P.S.: Please don't be jealous. I fear that there are maybe "extra" bugs
in these versions.
I have already used the Bug Reporter for some reports
and i am hoping that you do the same.
Tim has already e-mailed me that hopefully with the next available update
it will be possible to set an angle for the construction line(s)
[one of the bugs i already noticed].

Hello Victor.

That means that there is (at the moment) no update available
and so you are running the newest version ...

But i agree with you, it does more sound like an error and the
wording i used would maybe be better ...
And i also would appreciate an overview stating the latest builds for
all versions.

But again i beg you to use the bug reporter.
Today i got the second promised-to-be-fixed-in-the-next-update
e-mail from Tim Olsen.

Soon there will be hopefully enough bug-fixes ready to justify an
update ...

Have a nice (modelling) time ... :D

Roland
