This new printer, Makerbot's Replicator 2, looks like it will be very useful for printing 3D parts.
The price is relatively low, as are the consumables (PLA filament).
The resolution is touted as being 100 Microns/0.1mm
I don't work for this company or its associates in any way shape or form.
The size of parts that it can create has increased over the previous model too.
The Replicator X2 is to be released next year and might have 2 print nozzles. This could mean that support material could be printed, allowing for more sculptural parts. Go to link:

the new B9Creator (yet) and the Form 1 (soon) do look interesting also because not using lame FDM (extruded plastic) as MakerBot or Reprap but real stereolithography (resin/laser) which leads to a better resolution, durability and surface quality. Just read the article on GOLEM (in German). Although they are still in development stage, Form 1 - Printer looks promising. The FORM 1 from FormLabs might be a better fit for product design. I just found out about that one yesterday after I posted info on the Replicator. Thanks for informing us.
