When starting ViaCad 2D/3D from the dock on a Mac, a second, similar icon opens on the right side of the dock. They both are active (blue dot under icon). When switching back and forth between applications, only clicking on the right ViaCad icon brings ViaCad to the front. The icon I've dragged to the dock from the application folder brings shortly ViaCad in the menu bar, but then switches back to the app where I was. Also, when I open Activity Monitor, ViaCad has a 'no access' sign over the icon in Activity Monitor.

When I remove the application icon (the one originally dragged to the dock) and save the new icon in the dock, after closing VC, it won't open by clicking on this icon.

Is this behaviour suppose to be like this?

hi,

i am also using viacad pro9 (build 1103) from the punch online store and can confirm that problem with 2 dock icons on mac os 10.7.5.
hopefully we could get a service pack to update viacad soon.

build 1104 is the latest on Windoze. is 1103 the latest for MAC ??

what does the software say? when i 1st got v8 Pro, what i downloaded was not the latest, although they could have done a build release during the two days i downloaded and then checked using the "check version" in the Help section, etc.

I get this same error in version 8 of ViaCad Pro. Apparently the investigation has been ongoing for a long time. Has the dock icon issue been fixed in version 9?

ViaCAD opens an instance of itself in ~/.gs5/ For most people this folder would be hidden. I suspect that this is some part of the DRM that only lets one user access the application. But it still feels like a kludge.

It's fixed in newer builds. I've received on request 1154. If you mail tech support and ask for a pre-release, at least this bug is fixed.
